Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training

The course is offered at level 5 with the ability to analyse critically, use specific referencing, and perform detailed reflection and evaluation.
This course will help you develop more effective technique in the classroom and will allow you to choose better techniques and resources suitable for adult education classes. Level 4 holders
This programme Designed to prepare trainee teachers and trainers for teaching in a wide variety of contexts. There is a requirement for teaching practise to achieve the qualification which requires performance observation and assessment.

Who is the course for?

Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is suitable for teachers, trainers and tutors working within public, private, voluntary or community organisations in the area of further education, adult and community learning or work-based training.
It prepares trainee teachers to teach in a wide range of contexts, and requires practical observation and assessment. Teaching practise is a requirement for qualification.

Course Entry Requirements

  • Learner must have successfully achieved the Level 4 Award in Education and Training
  • Learner must be 19 years or older at the beginning of the course
  • A basic English level may be required for this programme

Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training

  • Guided Learning Hours (GLH):   60 hours
  • Total Qualification Time (TQT):   120 hours

How is the Course Assessed?

The Center assesses all units within this qualification internally. Qualifications are referenced criterion, based on achieving all of the specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a 'pass' for a unit, learners must provide evidence to show that they have met all of the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all of the evaluation criteria. The Assessor makes a judgement that the learners have met the assessment criteria successfully.
The Assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the overall achievement of the judgement of the learners has been achieved.

Course Progression

It may be possible to make progress from this qualification to higher education and training programmes and to work in the role of supporting education.

To receive the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, learners must obtain a minimum of 120 credits:

  • Be able to apply theories of behaviour management to creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive teaching and learning environment.
  • Be able to apply theories, principles and models of learning and communication to delivering inclusive teaching and learning.
  • Be able to apply theories, models and principles of assessment to assessing learning in education and training.
  • Be able to implement expectations of the minimum core in planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning.
  • Be able to apply theories and models of reflection and evaluation to the evaluation of own practice in planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning.
  • Be able to use initial and diagnostic assessment to agree individual learning goals with learners
  • Be able to plan inclusive teaching and learning
  • Be able to evaluate own practice in relation to action research
  • Be able to create and maintain a safe, inclusive teaching and learning environment
  • Be able to work with others within a specialist area to develop own practice
  • Be able to evaluate, improve and update own knowledge and skills in a specialist area
