Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering

Level 4 course on food safety will give you in-depth knowledge and understanding of food safety. It examines the management's vital roles in setting and maintaining high standards within a catering organisation. The purpose of this qualification is to prepare students for employment in the role of catering, or to support a role in the workplace.

Who is the course for?

This qualification is intended primarily for senior staff and those who are food handler managers in a food business within the catering and hospitality industries. It covers in depth all the necessary aspects of food hygiene and safety, providing a thorough knowledge for candidates.

Course Entry Requirements

  • Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Catering
  • Learner must be 19 years or older at the beginning of the course
  • A basic English level may be required for this programme


Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering

  • Guided Learning Hours (GLH):   40 hours
  • Total Qualification Time (TQT):   60 hours

How is the Course Assessed?

The Center assesses all units within this qualification internally. Qualifications are referenced criterion, based on achieving all of the specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a 'pass' for a unit, learners must provide evidence to show that they have met all of the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all of the evaluation criteria. The Assessor makes a judgement that the learners have met the assessment criteria successfully.
The Assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the overall achievement of the judgement of the learners has been achieved.

Once the course is successfully completed, The Candidates may progress to:

  • Level 5 Food Safety qualifications

To receive the Level 4 award in managing food safety in catering, learners must obtain a minimum of 6 credits:
