Level 2 Award in Security Officer

This qualification is perfect for anyone who wishes to be a security officer. It is based on SIA-related learning and qualification requirements and therefore provides the skills and knowledge needed for students to apply for a SIA licence in this area. The areas covered include security officers' roles and responsibilities, patrolling, security systems, communicating, reporting and recording, conflict prevention and personal-risk reduction, conflict disruption and conflict resolution and learning.
Who is the course for?
This qualification is intended for individuals wishing to apply for a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a security officer. Getting a Level 2 Security Guard Training Course is the first step towards getting your SIA licence to work in the security industry. If you're only looking to work in the security industry as a security officer, this is the right course for you.

- Learner must be 19 years or older at the beginning of the course
- A basic English level may be required for this programme

- Guided Learning Hours (GLH): 19 hours
- Total Qualification Time (TQT): 28 hours
How is the Course Assessed?
The Center assesses all units within this qualification internally. Qualifications are referenced criterion, based on achieving all of the specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a 'pass' for a unit, learners must provide evidence to show that they have met all of the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all of the evaluation criteria. The Assessor makes a judgement that the learners have met the assessment criteria successfully.
The Assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the overall achievement of the judgement of the learners has been achieved.
Course Progression
Once the course is successfully completed, The Candidates may progress to:
- Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor
- Level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance)
- Level 3 Certificate for Working as a Close Protection Operative
- Level 3 Award in the Delivery of Conflict Management Training (RQF)
- Level 3 Award for Deliverers of Physical Intervention Training
To receive the Level 2 award in Security Officer, learners must obtain a minimum of 3 credits:
