The level 3 award for Physical Intervention Trainers in the Private Security Industry qualifies trainers who want to provide physical intervention skills in the privacy sector. For trainers wishing to deliver the SIA Door Supervision / Physical Intervention Unit, this qualification is mandatory. It covers the knowledge and understanding of areas that are relevant to the role of the Physical Intervention Trainer.

Who is the course for?

This qualification is intended for people working within the private security sector and who need to train in physical intervention skills.

Course Entry Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification in delivering conflict management training
  • Learner must be 19 years or older at the beginning of the course
  • A basic English level may be required for this programme

  • Guided Learning Hours (GLH):   39 hours
  • Total Qualification Time (TQT):   46 hours

How is the Course Assessed?

The Center assesses all units within this qualification internally. Qualifications are referenced criterion, based on achieving all of the specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a 'pass' for a unit, learners must provide evidence to show that they have met all of the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all of the evaluation criteria. The Assessor makes a judgement that the learners have met the assessment criteria successfully.
The Assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the overall achievement of the judgement of the learners has been achieved.

Course Progression

Once the course is successfully completed, The Candidates may progress to:

  • Level 3 Certificate for Working as a Close Protection Operative within the Private Security Industry

To receive the Level 3 award for deliveries of physical intervention training in private security industry, learners must obtain a minimum of 5 credits:

  • Understand good practice to follow physical interventions
