Preparation Course for Life in The UK Test

The Life in the UK test is a computer-based test that is one of the requirements for anyone in the United Kingdom seeking Indefinite Leave to Remain or naturalisation as a British citizen. It is intended to prove that the applicant possesses sufficient knowledge of British life and sufficient English language skills. Who is the course for?

If you have been legally living in the United Kingdom for a certain period of time-usually five years. You can apply for an indefinite leave to stay that requires life in the UK test. You can also check that you are eligible under the gov.uk form.
Categories that allow an application for permanent residence in the United Kingdom include:

  • Legal residence – after five years (for example, spent on a Tier 2 visa)
  • Marriage or partner of a British citizen, or a person settled in the UK – five years, all of which must be spent on the spouse/partner visa.
  • Long residency – after ten years legal residency.

 

Course Entry Requirements

  • Everybody in the age bracket of 18-64 is required to pass this test as part of their citizenship or indefinite leave to remain (ILR) application
  • A basic English level may be required for this programme

Duration

  • 2 to 3 weeks

How is the Course Assessed?

The Center assesses all units within this qualification internally. Qualifications are referenced criterion, based on achieving all of the specified learning outcomes. To achieve a 'pass' for a unit, learners must provide evidence to show that they have met all of the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all of the evaluation criteria. The Assessor makes a judgement that the learners have met the assessment criteria successfully. The Assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the overall achievement of the judgement of the learners has been achieved.
