Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace
This Level 4 Award in Workplace Health and Safety qualification is designed for learners working or preparing themselves for work as directly responsible supervisors and managers for management of health and security. This qualification will give you in-depth knowledge of health and safety. It examines the vital roles of management in setting high standards and maintaining a good health and safety culture.
Who is the course for?
This Level 4 Workplace Health and Safety course is appropriate for employers, managers and/or supervisors responsible for ensuring high safety and health standards in the workplace. This includes those responsible for trainings, the maintenance of standards and the implementation of a positive health and safety culture at work.
Course Entry Requirements
- Level 3 Health and Safety qualification
- Learner must be 19 years or older at the beginning of the course
- A basic English level may be required for this programme
Duration
Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace
- Guided Learning Hours (GLH): 40 hours
- Total Qualification Time (TQT): 55 hours
How is the Course Assessed?
The Center assesses all units within this qualification internally. Qualifications are referenced criterion, based on achieving all of the specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a 'pass' for a unit, learners must provide evidence to show that they have met all of the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all of the evaluation criteria. The Assessor makes a judgement that the learners have met the assessment criteria successfully.
The Assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the overall achievement of the judgement of the learners has been achieved.
Course Progression
Once the course is successfully completed, The Candidates may progress to:
- Level 4 Occupational health and safety
- Level 5 Occupational health and safety
To receive the Level 4 award in the health and safety in the workplace, learners must obtain a minimum of 6 credits:

- Understand the duties and responsibilities of employers, employees and others in relation to health and safety at work.
- Understand the process by which health and safety is managed in an organisation.

- Know how to review health and safety across an organisation
